Boat-Apartment Rotterdam Fokkelina
About
First Impressions
When I first spotted the Boat-Apartment Rotterdam Fokkelina moored along J.B. Bakemakade, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect — I mean, staying on a boat in Rotterdam sounded intriguing but also a bit uncertain. This four-star floating accommodation turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you rethink what a hotel can actually be. The moment you step aboard, there's this immediate sense that you're experiencing something genuinely different from your typical city break.
The Floating Experience
What struck me most was how the gentle movement of the water becomes part of your stay — it's subtle, not seasickness-inducing, just enough to remind you that you're literally floating in the heart of the city. The apartment itself feels surprisingly spacious and well-designed, with large windows that frame the waterway views perfectly. You know what's clever? They've managed to create a proper home-away-from-home feeling while keeping that unique maritime character intact. The kitchen is fully equipped, which actually makes sense when you realize how nice it is to have morning coffee while watching the city wake up from your floating vantage point.
Location & Neighborhood
The Feijenoord area isn't the most touristy part of Rotterdam, but that's exactly what makes it interesting — you get a real sense of how locals live while still being perfectly positioned to explore the city center. The parking situation is sorted right on-site, which honestly removes one of the biggest headaches of visiting any Dutch city. I found myself taking evening walks along the waterfront, discovering little cafes and local spots that most visitors probably miss entirely.
Comfort & Amenities
The room setup works brilliantly for couples — there's something inherently romantic about falling asleep to the gentle lapping of water against the hull. The space is thoughtfully laid out with everything you need, and the views from the windows change subtly throughout the day as light shifts across the water. What impressed me was the attention to detail in making a boat feel like a proper accommodation — good Wi-Fi, comfortable bedding, and all the practical touches you'd want. The restaurant scene in the immediate area might be limited, but having that kitchen means you can easily stock up and enjoy meals with a view that no traditional hotel could offer.
Why Guests Love It
There's something about this place that just clicks, especially for couples looking for something memorable rather than just functional. The combination of being on the water while staying connected to the city creates this perfect balance of adventure and comfort. Recent guests consistently rave about the location — and after staying here, I completely understand why it scores so highly. It's not just about having a place to sleep; it's about having an experience that becomes part of your Rotterdam story, something you'll actually remember years later when other hotel stays have faded into a blur of generic rooms.

Exceptional
Amazing location in the center of the city. Cozy and spacious. Hospitable host
Access is a bit cumbersome but this wasn't a surprise as it was clearly mentioned in the property details.
Better than you would expect
Huge living space and a short taxi ride to the centre.
No outside space
It floated our boat!
It was a large enough space for us all, though I had the bunk bed room for myself (too small for two) and there were a couple of other beds empty, so we had enough space for our luggage, etc. The common hanging out / dining area was bigger than expected and it was great to hang out on the deck.
The landlord was very wary about neighbours being upset with noise, we were asked to be in and quiet by 10pm-ish and still he messaged me in the morning to find out how many people were staying on board, as we arrived back on the boat, quiet and sober, in two parties. Apparently the neighbours said there were guests. The boat next door, that we had to climb over to get to ours, had a party and guests, though their singing and minor noise didn't bother us - the landlord said I should have told him so he could complain. So, uptight about neighbours? We felt watched by unseen eyes and like he was uptight about noise issues - understandably so, as the noise travelled over the water and bounced off the walls, especially during the night.

sehr original
Heel bijzondere locatie, vriendelijke eigenaar.

Very Good
Very Good
