171. Urban Design Hotel Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to 171. Urban Design Hotel, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But you know what? This three-star spot actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby hits you with this clean, minimalist vibe that feels more boutique than budget, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions. It’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually thought about the design choices instead of just throwing together whatever furniture was on sale.
The rooms are where this place really shines though – I mean, they’re not huge, but everything feels intentional. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s this attention to detail in the lighting that makes the space feel way more expensive than it is. Honestly, I’ve stayed in so-called luxury hotels that felt more generic than this. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure and those little touches like good mirrors and actual counter space that you don’t always get at this price point.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even during busy periods – the soundproofing is solid, which isn’t something you can say about every hotel in this category. The common areas have this relaxed energy where you’ll find a mix of business travelers and tourists, but it never feels cramped or chaotic. Check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare, and the neighborhood has that authentic urban feel without being sketchy.
Look, it’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works. If you want a place that feels thoughtfully put together without the inflated prices of the big name hotels, this is your spot. The 8.1 rating makes complete sense once you spend a night here – it’s the kind of place you’d actually recommend to friends instead of just tolerating for a business trip.
Apartments in Rotterdam provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Dutch cafes and experience daily life in historic neighborhoods like Kralingen and Blijdorp.
