The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a Norwegian hotel chain – think IKEA meets boutique hotel, but in the best possible way. Everything’s functional and well-designed without trying too hard to be fancy. I mean, the bathroom was small (aren’t they always?), but the shower pressure was fantastic, which honestly matters more to me after a long day of walking around the city. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too – I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept well both nights I stayed there.

What really works about this place is the location. You’re right in the heart of everything without being stuck on some crazy busy main road where trams are rattling by at 6 AM. It’s maybe a five-minute walk to the Markthal, and you can easily get to the Erasmus Bridge on foot if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll. There’s also this great little coffee place just around the corner that the front desk guy told me about – the kind of local tip you only get when staff actually know their neighborhood.

The thing is, Rotterdam isn’t trying to be Amsterdam, and this hotel gets that. It’s modern, straightforward, and doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. For the price point, you’re getting solid value – especially if you’re the type of traveler who wants a clean, comfortable base rather than spending half your budget on a room you’ll barely be in anyway. The wi-fi actually works properly (miracle!), and there’s decent soundproofing, which matters more than you’d think in a city center location.

  As our visit centred on taking a river cruise the location was absolutely excellent & having a river view from our room was a huge bonus. Hotel is quickly accessible from Central Station by tram which stops outside. The room itself was comfortable & clean if a little short of space. Good storage though. All staff were very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was a buffet with a very good choice of hot & cold food, pastries etc. but not cheap at €23 each.
