The thing about Pannekoekstraat (yes, it literally means “pancake street” – I had to ask) is that you’re basically surrounded by everything Rotterdam does well. You’ve got the Markthal just a few minutes’ walk away, and honestly, that alone makes the location worth it. I mean, where else can you grab fresh stroopwafels at 9 AM and then stumble into some of the best international food vendors by lunch? The apartment itself feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile hotel-clean, which I actually prefer. There’s this comfortable, slightly worn-in quality to the furniture that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than just passing through another anonymous room. The kitchen‘s properly equipped too – not just the usual mini-fridge and kettle situation you get in most city center accommodations.

What really struck me was how quiet it stays at night, despite being so central. I was worried about street noise, especially on weekends when Rotterdam’s nightlife kicks into gear, but the windows do their job well. The WiFi’s solid (I was working remotely part of the time), and there’s something refreshing about having actual space to spread out your stuff. You’ll notice the neighborhood has this interesting mix going on – old Rotterdam charm bumping up against the city’s famous modern architecture. During the day, Pannekoekstraat has this gentle buzz of locals going about their business, but it never feels touristy or overwhelming. I actually found myself walking different routes each morning just to explore the surrounding streets – there’s always another café or vintage shop tucked away somewhere. The only minor downside? Parking‘s pretty much what you’d expect in any European city center – challenging and expensive. But honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car anyway. Everything’s walkable, and the public transport connections are excellent if you want to venture further out. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing Rotterdam as locals do, rather than just checking boxes on a tourist itinerary.

  Cozy place at perfect location.

  Location is nice being near Markthal, the cube houses, and Rotterdam Blaak station which is served by trains, metro, and trams. Apartment was spacious and comfortable enough. Soft bed, washing machine, drying rack. All very convenient to have. A/C worked well. Hot water on demand was nice. The host was also quick to respond when I sent any messages.
  
  What could be improved: The downside of the location is that there are multiple bars just below the apartment that are very loud until 1-2am on Friday and Saturday nights so this was a bit annoying for us, but if you stay during the week it should not be an issue. It was not a problem for us but there is no elevator and the apartment is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for Americans) so if you have any problem with stairs, don't stay here. The apartment also needs a deep cleaning, as there was a fair amount of dust on the floors and on the clothes hangers etc. More towels would have been nice.

  Location is good in the center Rotterdam.
  Although at night bit noisy because of restaurants right below.
  Air-conditioning bedroom was welcome in the heat!
  For the rest everything you need in the kitchen,well equipped
  soap, toilet paper en other things available so did not have to go shopping for them
  
  What could be improved: Stairs, so not for somebody with knee problems or elderly/pregnant persons.
  advice: provide extra set of sheets especially for a longer stay.
  Could not find bath towels, hand towels enough.
