Living Room Apartments Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked up to Living Room Apartments on Mathenesserlaan, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but it actually makes perfect sense once you step inside. This four-star property feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel, which is exactly the point. The building sits in Delfshaven, one of Rotterdam‘s most charming neighborhoods, and you immediately get that “local living” vibe rather than tourist hotel energy.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Delfshaven is honestly one of Rotterdam’s best-kept secrets — it’s got this historic maritime character that survived the WWII bombing, so you’re walking on cobblestones past 17th-century buildings. What I love about this location is that you’re close enough to the city center (maybe 15 minutes by tram) but far enough away to feel like you’re experiencing real Rotterdam life. There’s a great little market on Saturdays, and the Oude Kerk is just around the corner if you’re into that sort of thing. Plus, having parking available on-site is actually a big deal here — trust me, you don’t want to be circling Rotterdam looking for a spot.

The Living Space

The room I stayed in felt genuinely spacious, which is refreshing after so many cramped European hotel rooms. Each unit comes with a proper kitchenette — not just a mini-fridge and kettle, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab groceries from the Albert Heijn down the street. The design strikes this nice balance between modern functionality and cozy residential feel. You know what really sold me? The living area actually feels like a living area, not just a bed with a chair awkwardly placed in the corner.

Practical Perks

Recent guests have been rating the location pretty highly (8.1 out of 10), and I can see why — it’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to the city without being in the thick of tourist crowds. The staff here seems to get that people are staying for more than just a night, so they’re helpful with local recommendations without being pushy. I mean, they pointed me toward this fantastic Indonesian restaurant called Blauw that I never would have found otherwise. The whole setup works particularly well for couples, apparently — which makes sense given the intimate neighborhood feel and the apartment-style accommodations.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it lets you live like a Rotterdam local rather than just visit as a tourist. You’re grocery shopping at the same places as residents, taking the same trams, discovering the same hidden cafés in Delfshaven’s winding streets. The 7.6 rating reflects what I experienced — it’s solidly good without trying to be flashy, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If you’re the type who prefers exploring a city at your own pace rather than following a rigid itinerary, this setup gives you that flexibility while still having all the comforts you need.

Hotels in Rotterdam offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of the Netherlands’ most modern city, with easy access to bustling harbors, vibrant cultural scene, and renowned attractions like Euromast tower.

Les lits sont de bonne qualités, et l’emplacement du logement est très bien.

What could be improved: Pas mal bruyant le soir en raison d’une salle de fête coller à l’appartement, et certaine choses manquait dans la cuisine ( passoire et torchon)
