Leonardo Hotel Rotterdam Savoy Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Leonardo Hotel Rotterdam Savoy on Hoogstraat feels like stepping into the heart of Rotterdam itself — and I mean that in the best way possible. This four-star property sits right where all the action happens, which honestly surprised me given how peaceful it feels once you’re inside. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, you know? It’s the kind of place where business travelers and couples both feel completely at home.
Location Magic
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally in Centrum, which means everything worth seeing is either walkable or a quick tram ride away. The Markthal is practically around the corner, and those iconic cube houses that everyone wants to Instagram? Five minutes on foot, max. What really struck me though is how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot — apparently they rate the location 9.3 out of 10, and after spending time wandering the neighborhood, I totally get why. There’s something romantic about being able to stroll along the Oude Haven at sunset, then pop back to your hotel without any hassle.
The Room Experience
My room was on the fourth floor, and while it wasn’t huge, everything felt thoughtfully designed. The bed was genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. I appreciated the little touches, like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets that I didn’t have to choose between charging my phone and using my laptop. The soundproofing impressed me too, considering we’re talking about a busy street location in the city center.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is buffet-style, which I’ll admit made me a bit skeptical at first. But they do it right — fresh bread, proper coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. The restaurant area gets good natural light in the morning, and there’s something satisfying about planning your day over a decent meal while watching Rotterdam wake up outside the windows. Pro tip: the scrambled eggs are consistently good, which is rarer than it should be in hotel buffets.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the repeat guest factor — apparently more people come back here than at most other properties, and that tells you something important. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Rotterdam, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you that prime location. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, and there’s reliable wifi throughout (which matters more than people admit). For the price point and location, you’re getting solid value without any unpleasant surprises. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re exploring a city like Rotterdam.
To book hotel in Rotterdam during the spectacular North Sea Jazz Festival, visitors should make reservations well in advance as this innovative port city attracts millions of tourists from around the world seeking modern architecture and Dutch maritime heritage.
