Bed & Breakfast Maria Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Bed & Breakfast Maria on Sint Agathastraat, you immediately get that cozy neighborhood vibe that makes Rotterdam feel more intimate than you’d expect from the Netherlands’ second-largest city. This four-star B&B sits in the Noord district, and honestly, it’s one of those places where the location just clicks — especially if you’re traveling as a couple. The building has that classic Dutch charm without feeling overly touristy, which I really appreciated. The welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for your entire stay.
The Noord Neighborhood
What I love about staying here is how you’re positioned in a genuinely local part of Rotterdam. Noord has this emerging creative energy — you know, the kind of area where locals actually live and work rather than just another hotel strip. You can walk to the city center easily enough, but you’re also surrounded by authentic cafés and shops that most tourists never discover. The fact that couples rate this location 9.2 out of 10 makes total sense when you experience it firsthand — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter streets in the evening. The neighborhood truly captures the spirit of modern Rotterdam.
Your Room Experience
The room I stayed in felt like visiting a well-traveled friend’s guest space — thoughtfully decorated but not fussy. Maria clearly knows what travelers actually need: good lighting for reading, proper storage space, and a comfortable bed that doesn’t creak when you move. The breakfast setup is what you’d hope for from a proper B&B — fresh, local ingredients and that personal touch you just can’t get at chain hotels. I mean, when’s the last time a hotel owner actually asked about your coffee preferences and remembered them the next morning? These details make all the difference.
What Sets It Apart
Here’s the thing about Bed & Breakfast Maria — it consistently earns high ratings (8.9 for location, 8.8 overall) because it delivers on the fundamentals without trying too hard. The service feels genuine rather than scripted, and the atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between professional and homey. You’re not dealing with a massive front desk operation or navigating endless corridors — it’s straightforward and personal. The neighborhood location means you’re experiencing Rotterdam like someone who actually lives here, not just passing through. This authenticity is what keeps guests returning.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What really works about this place is how it solves the common B&B problems — you get the personal attention and local knowledge without sacrificing comfort or privacy. The Noord location puts you close enough to Rotterdam’s main attractions while keeping you in a district that feels authentic and lived-in. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway or just want to experience Rotterdam beyond the typical tourist zones, this spot delivers that sweet spot of local charm and traveler convenience that’s honestly pretty hard to find. Maria’s dedication to guest satisfaction shines through in every interaction.
Hotels near me in Rotterdam offer convenient access to architectural landmarks, where guests can easily walk to Cube Houses, Markthal, and world-renowned museums in Europe’s largest port city.

Reviews of Bed & Breakfast Maria
Wonderful – Randall from Canada – September 5, 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Only thing missing was some coffee pods.
Cosy Place to Stay – Moses from United Kingdom – July 20, 2025 (9/10)
I stayed at this apartment during a 4-day holiday (July 14 – 18) and had a great experience overall. The location is convenient—just about 8 minutes' walk to the nearest tram stop, which made getting around easy.
The apartment itself is excellent and well-suited for couples. Both the bathroom and kitchen are private, which added to the comfort and privacy of the stay. The kitchen is quite well-equipped, though it's worth noting that the oven wasn't working during my stay (it's got a tag " NOT IN USE").
On a brighter note, there's a lovely garden at the back of the apartment, perfect for relaxing outdoors.
All in all, a comfortable and cozy place to stay, with just a few things to keep in mind.
What could be improved: One downside was the WiFi—it was quite poor, to the point where I had to use mobile data instead. Hopefully, that gets improved in the future.Exceptional – Brian from United Kingdom – June 20, 2025 (10/10)
My second stay in this wonderful small apartment – it must be one of the prettiest and most comfortable in Rotterdam!!
Great place – Bolton from United Kingdom – November 4, 2024 (10/10)
A wonderful accommodation, comfy bed, good shower and useful kitchenette. (Be aware it's self-catering rather than the traditional bed and breakfast).
Everything was spotlessly clean.
Very friendly hosts.
Good tram connections to the centre and a local supermarket minutes away.
(You can use your debit or credit card to pay on the trams. Place it on the reader on entrance, it beeps once. Place it on the reader on exit, it beeps twice).
What could be improved: Everything was perfect.Very Good – Minerva from Curaçao – November 4, 2024 (8/10)
The location, clean room and friendly staff
What could be improved: Everything I needed is to my expectations.Exceptional – Sinnie from Portugal – October 18, 2024 (10/10)
Everyone made us feel at home. Let us do an early check in and store our bags before we leave. Everything was extremely clean. The private kitchen was a must!
Convenient but more expensive than advertised due to misreprentation of the property . – Francis from France – July 24, 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Misrepresentation: the property is called "Bed and Breakfast" BUT there is no breakfast. This is misrepresentation.
And Parking " available" is charged extra by the hour between 9 am and 11 pm. also not in the property description which gives the impression it is free.
I would NOT have booked this property .Cosy apartment in Rotterdam near train station and tram line – Lizette from South Africa – May 12, 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Everything was goodBeautiful stay – Mišel from Netherlands – February 16, 2024 (9/10)
the apartment is comfortable, beautiful, like from a movie, with a wonderful terrace for morning coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine.
What could be improved: I recommend Maria's apartment!Lovely place in a beautiful city – Davide from Ireland – November 27, 2023 (10/10)
The B&B Maria is in a very good and strategic position.
You can get to the B&B from the Central Station in less than 15 mins using either tram line 4 or 8 (Also very good if you arrive from Rotterdam airport, just take the underground until central station). You can be in the city centre in 10mins by train or if you fancy a nice walk on the river ca 25 mins.
There are two supermarkets close to the B&B. The B&B has all furniture for cooking. Coffe and tea were available (maybe a small suggestion is to provide also oil and salts). There are few bars and restaurants close to the B&B which should be nice (we didn't try).
The place is cosy and warm. Very quiet you can rest and relax. The garden is lovely.
