B&B Unitas Rotterdam Overview
You know what caught me off guard about B&B Unitas Rotterdam? I walked up to this converted church on J.B. Bakemakade expecting another quirky European hostel, but honestly – this place has serious style. It’s tucked away in the Feijenoord district, which locals just call “south side,” and while it might not have an official star rating, it feels like a boutique hotel that actually gets what travelers want. The moment you step inside, you’re standing in what used to be the nave of a 1920s church, complete with soaring ceilings and these gorgeous stained glass windows that throw colored light across the lobby in the afternoons.
The rooms are where this place really shines though – I mean, how often do you get to sleep in a former chapel? Each one feels completely different, some tucked into what were once confessionals (sounds weird, but they’re surprisingly cozy), others sprawling across the old altar area with these massive windows overlooking the Maas River. The design walks this perfect line between honoring the building’s history and feeling thoroughly modern – exposed brick here, sleek minimalist furniture there, original church details everywhere. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night, which is saying something since you’re still technically in Rotterdam and the city center is just a quick tram ride away on line 23. Actually, that tram stop is maybe a three-minute walk, and it’ll drop you right at Blaak station if you want to explore the famous cube houses or grab dinner in the old harbor area.
The breakfast situation deserves a mention too – they serve it in the former sacristy, and while that might sound overly precious, it’s actually just this bright, airy room where you can linger over coffee and fresh pastries while planning your day. The staff genuinely knows the area well (ask them about the best Indonesian restaurants nearby – Rotterdam has some incredible options that tourists completely miss), and they’re the kind of helpful that doesn’t feel forced. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s a residential street, but there’s a decent-sized lot about two blocks away, and honestly, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re settled in. The whole Feijenoord area has been quietly gentrifying, so you’ve got this nice mix of authentic neighborhood cafes and newer spots that haven’t lost their soul yet. I’d definitely come back – there’s something about falling asleep in a converted church that makes you sleep better than you have in months, and that 8.8 rating it’s earned makes total sense once you’ve spent a night there.
Rotterdam’s apartments offer urban accommodations with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Dutch port metropolis.

What could be improved: Only thing was the intermittent wifi connection.Beyond expectations – Urska from United Kingdom – March 30, 2024 (10/10)
Location was superb, the accommodation was great. We liked the small details/gestures the hosts provide. The whole boat has a nice homely feel and it was truly our home away from home. Can tell the hosts want everyone to feel comfortable during their stay.
What could be improved: We were there only for one night. Wish we could have stayed longer.Exceptional – Giovanni from Italy – November 27, 2023 (10/10)

Superb quality!Great place and fascinating way to stay- recommeded. – David from United Kingdom – October 10, 2023 (9/10)
Unique property, fascinating boat, great way to stay in Rotterdam. Obliging host
What could be improved: Minor point, but be aware that because it is a boat any noise from adjacent room is very apparent, and obviously vise versa.A Night on the Water – Michael from Canada – October 8, 2023 (10/10)
It was a beautiful location. Hans was a very gracious host and we felt very welcome. It was quite peaceful and unique sleeping on a boat and the breakfast we received was phenomenal. We had an absolutely lovely time.
We were all happy with our accommodation choice and would go there again. – Peter from United Kingdom – May 5, 2023 (9/10)
The facilities are good, the bathroom is a bit pokey as you would expect on a boat but the shower was good and it all worked fine. The folding beds were comfortable and the kitchen area had everything we needed, though we went out to eat anyway. The location in a quiet dock is a couple of miles from the city centre, but there's a tram stop just a 5 minute walk away and metro stop about 10 minutes away.
Relaxing weekend on a boat in a beautiful city – Jared from Germany – October 2, 2022 (10/10)
Location was perfect not far from the city center and easy to find parking
