The Gerard Scholtenstraat location puts you smack in Noord district, which honestly feels more authentic than anywhere near the central station chaos. I mean, you’ll hear actual neighbors going about their morning routines instead of rolling suitcases at 6 AM.

The ground floor setup is pretty clever – no lugging bags up narrow Dutch staircases (trust me, you’ll appreciate this if you’ve stayed in Amsterdam canal houses). It’s a solid three-star place that doesn’t pretend to be fancy, but everything actually works properly. The kitchen‘s got real counter space, which is rare for European apartments, and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. Small wins that matter when you’re staying more than a night or two. What I really liked was having my own entrance – you’re not bumping into other guests in hallways or waiting for elevators.

The Noord area itself is where Rotterdam gets interesting beyond the typical architectural tourism stuff. You’ve got the Kralingse Bos park maybe fifteen minutes away if you want to jog or just escape the city vibe for a bit. There’s this great Indonesian place called Warung Mini on the next street over – locals actually eat there, not just tourists Googling “best restaurants.” Getting into the center takes about twenty minutes on public transport, and honestly, the tram connections are pretty straightforward once you figure out the system. Parking‘s not impossible either, which is saying something for Dutch cities. The neighborhood gets genuinely quiet at night, so if you’re sensitive to noise, you’ll sleep better here than anywhere near Witte de Withstraat. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to explore Rotterdam properly rather than just hitting the obvious spots and leaving.

  Very nice flat, comfortable and practical. The neighborhood is great and quiet. There is a garden but the weather was so bad that we did not test it. The host were very reactive and helpful!
