Wikkelboats at Floating Rotterdam Rijnhaven
About
First Impressions
You know what caught me off guard about Wikkelboats at Floating Rotterdam Rijnhaven? It's actually floating — like, properly bobbing on the water in Rotterdam's harbor. I mean, I'd read about it beforehand, but seeing these sleek, pod-like boats lined up along Antoine Platekade is something else entirely. The whole concept feels wonderfully Dutch in that practical-yet-innovative way, and honestly, it's one of those experiences that makes you feel like you're staying somewhere genuinely unique rather than just another hotel room.
Location & Neighborhood
The location in Feijenoord is absolutely brilliant — you're right in Rotterdam's beating heart with that incredible 9.5 location score making perfect sense once you're there. What I love is how you can walk to the city center in about fifteen minutes, but you're also positioned right on the water with unobstructed views of Rotterdam's famous skyline. The Erasmus Bridge is practically next door, and you've got the Maritime Museum and SS Rotterdam within easy reach. Couples seem to particularly appreciate this spot (they rate it 9.4), and I can see why — there's something undeniably romantic about falling asleep to gentle water movement while the city lights reflect off the harbor.
The Floating Experience
Living on water for a few nights is surprisingly soothing, though it takes about an hour to get used to the subtle rocking motion. The Wikkelboat itself is cleverly designed — compact but not cramped, with large windows that make the most of those harbor views. Everything feels thoughtfully planned, from the efficient use of space to the way natural light floods in during the day. I actually found myself spending more time just sitting and watching the water than I normally would in a regular hotel room, which says something about how the environment changes your pace.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here covers all the bases — they've got vegetarian, vegan, and halal options, plus breakfast to go if you want to grab something and explore the city early. What's nice is that they clearly understand their guests come from all backgrounds and dietary needs. The breakfast setup isn't elaborate, but it's fresh and well-thought-out. Having your morning coffee while watching boats pass by in the harbor beats a standard hotel dining room any day, and the to-go option is perfect for those mornings when you want to catch the sunrise from the nearby Erasmus Bridge.
Why Guests Love It
This three-star property punches well above its weight with that impressive 9.3 rating, and after staying here, I get it completely. It's not trying to be upscale in a traditional sense — instead, it offers something you simply can't get anywhere else in Rotterdam. The combination of being genuinely unique, perfectly located, and surprisingly comfortable creates an experience that sticks with you. Sure, you're not getting room service or a spa, but you are getting the chance to sleep on the water in one of Europe's most dynamic cities, and that's worth way more than thread count or marble bathrooms.

This is the most unusual hotel we've ever been to . Simply amazing and out of this world
Beautifully designed and well appointed accommodation. Comfortable beds. Great location- very peaceful but only 3 metro stops from Central Station. Supermarket, restaurants and Nederlands Fotomuseum very nearby. Even went swimming, though wasn’t inclined to put head under
Easily accessible and clean.
Everything
the spectacularity of the location end the nice extra features that the house has. The jacuzzi, super nice! especially the possibility to jump into the canals water.
The magical combination of modern houses and traditional houseboats gave us an unforgettable experience. Everyone slept soundly as the boat floated gently. A lot of water sport options. Bars , restaurants, supermarkets, and two indoor car parks are close by. Panoramic view of the lake and the modern skyscrapers. Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen and bathroom.
Absolutely amazing design and location! Super well appointed with all the essentials for kitchen and bath. Very comfy beds for all. Fantastic outdoor space with hammock and beanbag, and views!
Location was fantastic. Tram station is at walking distance, water taxi stop and plenty of food options at a stones throw. Also, close to the water bus stop if you plan to visit Kinderdyk (highly recommended).
