Sewdien’s Apartment Maashaven
About
First Impressions
Walking up to Sewdien's Apartment Maashaven, you immediately get the sense this isn't your typical hotel experience — and honestly, that's exactly what makes it work. Located in Rotterdam's Feijenoord district, this three-star property sits right along the Maas River, giving you those industrial-meets-residential vibes that Rotterdam does so well. The building itself feels more like a well-maintained apartment complex than a traditional hotel, which actually creates this relaxed, almost residential atmosphere that I found pretty refreshing after bouncing between sterile chain hotels.
Location & Neighborhood
Here's the thing about Feijenoord — it's one of those neighborhoods that locals know but tourists often overlook, and that works in your favor. You're literally steps from the Maashaven harbor, which means morning walks along the water become part of your routine. The area has this authentic Rotterdam feel, with converted warehouses and modern developments mixing together. Getting into the city center is straightforward — tram connections are solid, and you know what, sometimes I just walked because the route along the river is actually quite pleasant. Couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 9.1), and I can see why — there's something romantic about being slightly removed from the tourist crowds while still having easy access to everything.
The Apartment Experience
The rooms at Sewdien's Apartment Maashaven feel more like temporary homes than hotel rooms, which is either exactly what you want or not — depends on your travel style, I suppose. What struck me most was how comfortable the beds were (apparently other guests agree, because the property gets high marks for this). The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, with practical touches that make longer stays actually work. You get proper kitchen facilities, which means you can grab groceries from the local shops and cook if you want — something that becomes surprisingly appealing when you're tired of restaurant meals.
Practical Comforts
The whole setup here prioritizes comfort over flashiness, and honestly, that approach really works. Recent guests have been rating the location highly (8.9), and after staying here, I get it — you feel like you're experiencing Rotterdam as a temporary resident rather than just passing through. The apartment-style layout means you have space to actually unpack and settle in, which makes even short stays feel less rushed. Little things matter here — decent water pressure, reliable Wi-Fi, and those genuinely comfortable beds that don't leave you waking up with a sore back.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Sewdien's Apartment Maashaven work is that it delivers on the fundamentals without trying to be something it's not. You're not getting upscale amenities or concierge service, but you are getting a comfortable base in an interesting part of Rotterdam that feels authentic rather than touristy. The combination of the riverside location, practical apartment setup, and that neighborhood feel creates something that's particularly appealing if you want to experience Rotterdam beyond the typical hotel bubble. It's the kind of place that works especially well for couples or anyone who appreciates having a bit more space and local character in their accommodation.
Rotterdam's apartments offer urban accommodations with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Dutch port metropolis.

Everything was great, specially the nice yard and the good equipped kitchen.
I liked that we had everything we needed to relax and rest after a long trip. Very close to the cruise terminal, 10 minutes walking. Close to a very nice supermarket where we got everything we needed for dinner and breakfast. Beautiful views! Definitely we'll book it again!
enjoyed our stay convenient situation and lovel;y to have outside space would book again if available
Great location walking distance from Metro and Cruise Terminal. Modern full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities.. Kingsize bed plus two twin beds for your luggage, Outdoor garden area behind the apartment and the Maashaven Arm, boats, and walkway in front. Fast communications and accommodating to earlier access as owner lives above this ground level suite.
A nice spacious studio apartment. It has a patio in the backyard which was nice to chill in and soak rare sun in the Netherlands. It’s equipped with all kinds of cooking appliances and together with the Jumbo supermarkt in 500m you can simply cook for yourself and not spend a ton in the restaurants. WiFi is fast and works well. 2.2 kms away from the start of the Rotterdam Marathon which makes it very convenient. The owner was kind enough to extend our stay up until 3pm because of the marathon.
I would stay in again
Well equipped Appartement. Good Location. Helpful owners (where to park best), easy in and out checking with key box.
A very cozy apartment, next to the canal. The back garden was a pleasent surprise. Close to shops and metro station. It had everything needed in the bathroom and kitchen. Excellent value for money!
Very close to the cruise port if you are taking a cruise. Clean and comfortable with a great outdoor area.
