Savoy Hotel Rotterdam Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Savoy Hotel Rotterdam, you immediately get that classic European hotel vibe — it’s polished without being stuffy, and there’s something reassuring about the traditional elegance mixed with Dutch practicality. The lobby feels welcoming rather than intimidating, which honestly sets the tone for the whole experience. You can tell this is a place that’s been hosting travelers for years and has figured out how to do it right.

Perfect Central Location

The location on Hoogstraat is actually brilliant — you’re right in the heart of Rotterdam‘s city center, but it doesn’t feel chaotic or overwhelming. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot a 9.4, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the major shopping areas, museums, and restaurants without any hassle, but when you step inside the hotel, there’s this immediate sense of calm. The Markthal is just a few minutes away, and if you’re into architecture (which, let’s face it, you should be in Rotterdam), you’re perfectly positioned to explore the city’s incredible modern skyline.

The Room Experience

The rooms at this four-star property strike that sweet spot between comfort and character. They’re not huge by American standards, but they’re thoughtfully designed with everything you actually need. The beds are genuinely comfortable — I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up wondering what time it is because you slept so well. What I really appreciated was the attention to details like good lighting for reading and enough outlets for all your devices. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, and the water pressure is solid (always a concern in older European buildings, but not here).

Breakfast and Dining

The buffet breakfast deserves a mention because it’s one of those spreads that actually makes you want to get up in the morning. They’ve got the Dutch classics covered — excellent cheeses, fresh bread, and proper coffee — but there’s enough variety to keep you happy whether you’re craving something light or need fuel for a full day of sightseeing. The restaurant area has this warm, inviting atmosphere where you can take your time without feeling rushed. Honestly, it’s the kind of breakfast that makes you understand why so many guests keep coming back to this place.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something to be said for a hotel that earns genuine loyalty from its guests, and the Savoy clearly has that figured out. The staff seems to remember returning visitors, and there’s this understated professionalism that makes everything run smoothly without feeling overly formal. The combination of the prime location, consistent quality, and that reliable European hospitality creates an experience that just works. You know what I mean — it’s the kind of place where you can focus on enjoying Rotterdam instead of worrying about whether your hotel choice was right. For the price point and location, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for in a well-run city hotel.

Reviews of Savoy Hotel Rotterdam

  • Josep from Spain (9/10)

The room was amazing. The beds very comfortable and the bathroom really nice. The location is perfect, close to the Kubuswoning and the Markthal and the area is plenty of restaurants.
The relation between price and quality is the best.

  • Rebecka from Netherlands (9/10)

Was decorated really nicely, was fun to have a record player. Location is great as the hotel is near Blaak station and main tourist spots, easy to get to and only a few minutes walk to the main shopping area as well.

  • Johannes from Finland (9/10)

Lovely and affordable hotel, a little off the beaten path. Staff must be among the friendliest I ever encountered (and I do get around), and there is a great Surinamese take out place a five minutes' walk away… Excellent find; am pretty certain to return sooner or later.

  • Beryl from United Kingdom (9/10)

Clean safe and quiet area and close to metro. Plenty of coffee shops and other facilities .
    Staff were international, so helpful.

  • Delaram from Netherlands (9/10)

Super friendly staff! The room was very comfortable and very clean!

  • Ann from United States of America (9/10)

Friendly staff, very helpful. We had to come a day early before our original reservation because we had to leave Florida due to Hurricane Helene. The airports were shutting down and we had to get out so we could make the departure of the Rotterdam leaving port on Sept 28. They were able to get us in a room and about noon. Since we were jet lagged that was very appreciated. We had a lovely stay at the Savoy meeting several of our shipmates in the lobby.

  • Adela from Indonesia (8/10)

The location is perfect, different nice places within reach.

  • Pavol from Slovakia (9/10)

The hotel was clean, very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was varied, sufficient selection.
Very good train connection directly from the airport in Amsterdam (train stop approx. 7 minutes by walk to the hotel).
In case of our return trip to Rotterdam, it is the first choice.

  • Richard from United Kingdom (8/10)

Great young vibe and within easy walking of the centre. Modern, clean and friendly.

  • Hafar from Iceland (8/10)

The breakfast was nice, there was a decent selection of all the main things you usually eat for breakfast.
However, it should still be included in the service being sold.
The location is very good, the staff is friendly and helpful.
The beds were good and the room very well cleaned and the bathroom nice with a good shower
