Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things in Rotterdam. You’re literally floating in the city center — I could walk to the Markthal in about ten minutes, and the iconic cube houses are practically next door. What I loved most was how couples seemed to gravitate toward this place (apparently they rate the location a perfect 10), and I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own private floating apartment while still being steps away from all the restaurants and nightlife. The Wijnkade area itself has this cool industrial-meets-modern vibe that Rotterdam does so well.

The Apartment Experience

The room — well, apartment really — surprised me with how spacious it felt despite being on a boat. The kitchen is actually functional, not just for show, which is great if you want to grab some fresh ingredients from the nearby market and cook with a harbor view. I spent way too much time just sitting by the windows watching the boats go by. The whole place has this clean, Scandinavian-inspired design that works perfectly with the water setting. You get all the amenities you’d expect from a four-star place, but with that unique floating twist that makes it feel like an adventure.

Getting Around

One thing that really worked in my favor was how easy it was to explore from here. Parking can be a nightmare in Rotterdam’s city center, but staying right on the water means you can actually walk to most of the major sights. The central train station is close enough that day trips to Amsterdam or The Hague are totally doable. I actually ended up using the bikes they had available more than I expected — cycling along the waterfront in the morning became my little routine.

Look, there are plenty of nice hotels in Rotterdam, but this place offers something you just can’t get anywhere else. It’s that combination of being genuinely comfortable and well-appointed while also being completely unique.   Monique is the best host, very welcoming and easy communication. We booked both cabins on the boat for a friends weekend. The location is perfect, directly in the city center of Rotterdam, you can walk to the nearest grocery shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. There is watertaxi stand just on the opposite of the boat. 2 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the bigger cabin has a spacious living room. To reach the bathroom of one of the cabins is a little challenge as you need to climb down to reach it but it is manageable. We loved sitting outside on the terrace with a coffee or a drink and having the skyline around us. The houseboat is definitely recommended. Thank you very much again for everything Monique!!

  Great position, very close to market hall and a lot of pubs! Kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need. All the facilities on the boat were working perfectly, you have a really nice terrace, and the host is very nice!
