Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam – Central Station by IHG Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam – Central Station by IHG – it’s exactly what you need if you’re planning to actually explore Rotterdam without breaking the bank. This three-star spot sits right on Weena, which means you’re literally a two-minute walk from Central Station. I mean, I could practically hear the trams from my room, but honestly? It wasn’t annoying, more like a gentle urban hum that reminded me I was in the heart of everything.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to get that most guests are either rushing to catch trains or just stumbled off one. Check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out welcome speech some hotels insist on. The rooms are what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express, meaning clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable beds. Actually, I slept better here than at some fancier places I’ve stayed. The shower had decent water pressure too, which you know can be hit or miss in older European buildings. One small thing though – the walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs. Nothing terrible, just the occasional hallway conversation or suitcase wheels rolling by.

Here’s what makes this place work: location, location, location. You’re not just near the station – you’re positioned perfectly for everything Rotterdam has to offer. The Markthal is maybe a ten-minute walk, and honestly, grabbing breakfast there instead of the hotel’s continental spread might be worth it some mornings. The Erasmus Bridge? Easy stroll. Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen? Hop on the metro right downstairs. I actually found myself using the hotel as more of a base camp than a destination, which is exactly what this type of property should be. The neighborhood gets busy during rush hours – I mean really busy – but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. There’s a decent Albert Heijn grocery store nearby if you want to grab snacks or water bottles, and plenty of cafés within a block or two. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving, but let’s be real – if you’re staying here, you’re probably relying on public transport anyway, which is exactly the point.

Reviews of Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam – Central Station by IHG

  • Wonderful – Nikolay from Switzerland – September 17, 2025 (9/10)

    Location, price, comfort

What could be improved: Breakfast can be improved. Tax for keeping the luggage after Check out – this is unnecessary. First time I see it.

  • Very Good – Robert from United Kingdom – September 16, 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Did not like being charged 6 euros to leave our case for a few hours after staying with them for 8 days. We have never been charged to leave a case at a hotel for a few hours in the 60 years we have been travelling. Think this was unreasonable.

  • Very Good – Gordon from Ireland – September 16, 2025 (8/10)

    Location room good size

What could be improved: Breakfast a bit chaotic

  • Wonderful – Betsy from United States – September 12, 2025 (9/10)

    the breakfast is nice( yogurt!)
    the room is spacious

What could be improved: the water from the shower is weak

  • Comfortable, and location top – Rafael from Belgium – September 11, 2025 (9/10)

The location is top, and the hotel is really clean

What could be improved: When i did the booking, the difference price of the rooms change a bit because said that included a view or no, or high view or no, but i choose the double room with view but the view was to another building on the back side of the hotel, and I think for the next time I will choose without view because is almost same that the room with view, nothing special.

  • A good stay – Bor-yih from Taiwan – September 11, 2025 (9/10)

Good place, very close to the central station. The front desk staffs are charming and helpful. The room was good, except for lacking a frige.

  • Nice comfortable stay in great location. – Pippa from Australia – September 7, 2025 (9/10)

The location, clean room, comfortable bed. Close to central train station.

What could be improved: The shower drain didn’t drain properly.
The breakfast wasn’t very good quality – highly processed, fluorescent pink meat, cheap cheese, the fruit in the fruit salad was not fresh. Coffee quality also wasn’t good from the machine. They did have gluten free bread on request.

  • Wonderful – Anton from Finland – September 3, 2025 (9/10)

    Nice location
    Friendly staff

What could be improved: Limited breakfast

  • Great place to stay – Ugurkan from Germany – August 31, 2025 (7/10)

    Location, comfortable

What could be improved: Breakfast could be better
