The beds are actually really good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that makes you want to stay in longer than you should.

The concierge helped me find this incredible local seafood spot that wasn’t in any guidebook, and when I mentioned I was interested in the city’s architecture, he drew me a little walking route on the back of a business card. I mean, you could tell he actually knew the city instead of just reading from a script. The hotel bar gets pretty lively in the evenings with a mix of business travelers and locals, which gives it more character than most hotel lounges.

Sure, parking costs extra and the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some corners of the building, but honestly? For what you get – that prime location, consistently good service, and rooms that actually feel like someone thought about your comfort – it’s worth it. Rotterdam isn’t Amsterdam, and this hotel gets that. It’s polished and professional without trying too hard to impress, which somehow makes it more impressive.
