easyHotel Rotterdam City Centre Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to easyHotel Rotterdam City Centre on Westblaak, I wasn’t expecting much from a two-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the simplest spots surprise you in the best ways. The building itself sits right in the heart of Rotterdam‘s bustling center, and I mean literally – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the Markthal (that crazy horseshoe-shaped market building everyone posts on Instagram), and the same distance to Rotterdam Centraal if you need to catch a train.
What struck me most about this place was how they’ve mastered the art of doing less, but doing it well. The rooms are compact – I mean really compact, like clever-use-of-every-inch compact – but everything actually works. The shower has decent pressure, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and honestly, the beds are more comfortable than you’d expect. Sure, you’re not getting room service or fancy toiletries, but the housekeeping is solid and the whole place feels clean and modern. I stayed there during a weekend when Rotterdam was hosting some big festival, and even with all the street activity below, the windows did a surprisingly good job keeping the noise out. Though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs just in case – it’s a lively neighborhood, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
The staff at the front desk were genuinely helpful too, which isn’t always a given at budget hotels. When I couldn’t figure out the tram system (Rotterdam’s public transport can be confusing if you’re used to other Dutch cities), the guy working the evening shift actually printed out a little map and marked the stops I needed. Little things like that stick with you. The whole area around Westblaak is perfect for wandering – you’ve got the Oude Haven with all those historic ships just a few blocks away, plus tons of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. I grabbed coffee most mornings at this tiny place called Hopper Coffee right around the corner, and there’s a decent Albert Heijn supermarket nearby if you want to stock up on snacks or Dutch cheese to take home. Really, if you’re looking for a clean, no-nonsense base to explore Rotterdam without spending a fortune, this easyHotel delivers exactly what it promises – nothing more, nothing less, but done right.
