The windows face west, so you get this gorgeous late afternoon light that just floods the space, and if you lean out a bit, you can actually see people strolling along the more touristy areas while you’re tucked away on this quieter residential street. I loved that balance – close enough to walk to the Markthal in like ten minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists right outside your door every morning.

What really sold me on this three-star spot was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. There’s a proper coffee setup (not just some sad instant packets), the Wi-Fi is solid throughout the apartment, and – this might sound minor but it’s huge – there are enough electrical outlets in logical places. The shower has decent water pressure too, which honestly can be hit or miss in these older Rotterdam buildings. I stayed here during a particularly rainy week in October, and the heating worked perfectly without making those weird radiator noises that keep you up at night. The only thing that took some getting used to was the street-facing windows – Rotterdam’s not exactly a quiet city, and you’ll hear some traffic and the occasional late-night reveler, but it’s nothing earplugs can’t handle if you’re a light sleeper. Actually, I kind of enjoyed the urban soundtrack after a while – made me feel more connected to the city’s rhythm. For the price point and location, this studio delivers exactly what it promises without any fancy bells and whistles you don’t really need anyway.

  Great location, clean, comfortable for a couple, a family or close group of friends. The facilities were new and working properly. Good value for money.
  
  What could be improved: Strong smell from the pipes, but we fixed it by setting up the drain properly (must have been set up incorrectly by the cleaning person). The AC was dripping on the floor, so needed to change the water container often, otherwise nothing to complain.
