B&B Berglust Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to B&B Berglust, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this three-star bed and breakfast tucked away on a quiet residential street. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come in unassuming packages. The property sits on Berglustlaan in the Hillegersberg-Schiebroek district — and if you’re not familiar with Rotterdam, this is one of those leafy neighborhoods where locals actually live, not just where tourists pass through. There’s free parking right on site, which is honestly a godsend in the Netherlands where finding a spot can be a real headache.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I really appreciated about staying here — you’re in a proper residential area with tree-lined streets and that authentic Dutch suburban feel. It’s about 15 minutes by tram to Rotterdam’s city center, but the journey actually gives you a nice glimpse of how regular people live here. The neighborhood has this calm, almost village-like atmosphere that’s perfect if you want to escape the hustle of downtown Rotterdam. I mean, couples seem to get it — they consistently rate the location around 9.0, and I can see why.
Your Room and Space
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, though don’t expect any fancy frills — this is a three-star place, after all. What struck me was how well-maintained everything felt, and the hosts clearly put thought into the small details. The windows looked out onto the quiet street, and honestly, after a day of exploring Rotterdam’s bustling port areas and modern architecture, coming back to this peaceful setting was exactly what I needed. The overall guest rating of 9.2 starts to make sense when you realize it’s not trying to be something it’s not.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Now, the breakfast — this is where B&B Berglust really shines. They offer vegetarian options, which isn’t always a given at smaller places like this. The spread was fresh and locally sourced, and you could tell the hosts take pride in starting your day right. I actually found myself looking forward to breakfast each morning, which says something since I’m usually more of a grab-coffee-and-go person. The dining area has this cozy, homey feel that makes you want to linger over your coffee and plan your day.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the combination of genuine hospitality and that unbeatable location rating. You’re getting authentic Dutch residential life without sacrificing access to Rotterdam’s main attractions. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing — that 9.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying with knowledgeable locals rather than just checking into another generic hotel. For the price point and the personal touch, B&B Berglust delivers exactly what a good bed and breakfast should: comfort, character, and that feeling that you’ve discovered something special.
Rotterdam’s hotels wrap guests in harbor views, design-forward suites, and concierge-led architecture tours.

I wanted to share my wonderful experience during my stay in Rotterdam. I absolutely loved the room; it was clean and cozy. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall charm of my visit.
However, what truly stood out for me was the observatory/sunroom in the room. It provided a unique and enjoyable space to relax and take in the beautiful views. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommended! 🙂Eli from Bulgaria (10/10)
The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The area is very nice and you can travel to the Rotterdam's centre in 20 min.

1. The neighbourhood Hillegersberg is just great, very elegant and peaceful. We especially enjoyed the lakes.
2. The owner is truly likeable. Loved the welcome wine!
3. The red-white cat lady from the neighbourhood is very friendly, too. She even came to my bed.
4. The suite isn't very large, but it's cleverly arranged and therefore comfortable. Plus, the glassed patio adds a lot of space.
5. Everything works. I mean, all aplliances function, there's electricity in all sockets, the shower won't burn or freeze you, and so on. Whoever travels a lot, knows that's not always the case.Loren from United Kingdom (10/10)
Our stay was nothing short of perfect! A gorgeous neighbourhood, with a beautiful adventure park near by that our two children absolutely loved! Will 100% be returning in the future.

We had a very nice welcome from our host and the room was clean and cozy. We also liked the kitchen equipped with everything you’d need to cook for yourself. We also got many tips from our host which really helped us to make the best out of our trip 🙂

Everything was spot on.
The location may seem a bit out of town, but a regular tram into the city centre is just a minute's walk away, followed by a 15-minute ride to Rotterdam Centraal.
And Lonneke was kind enough to loan me a OV chipcard, which made travel on the metro also straightforward.
But that was typical of her and Duco. Nothing was too much trouble.
The location is also in a nice part of town, with a supermarket less than 10 minutes away.Dirk from Germany (10/10)
We had such a great stay at Lonneke and Duco‘s place. They made us feel at home immediately. We would recommend them to anyone travelling to Rotterdam!
